*Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs) A politically exposed person (PEP) is defined as 'an individual person who is, or has, at any time in the preceding year, been entrusted with prominent public functions and any immediate family member, or known close associate, of such a person'. This definition includes the following persons: • heads of states, heads of governments, ministers and deputy or assistant ministers • members of parliaments and councilors • members of supreme courts, constitutional courts or other high-level judicial bodies whose decisions are not generally subject to further appeal, except in exceptional circumstances • members of courts of auditors or of the boards of central banks • ambassadors, charge d'affairs and high ranking officers in armed forces • members of the administrative, management or supervisory bodies of state-owned enterprises. The following persons are also regarded as PEPs by virtue of their relationship or association with: • family members of the persons listed above, including spouse, partner, • children and their spouses or partners, and parents • known close associates of the persons listed above, including persons with whom joint beneficial ownership of a legal entity or legal arrangement is held, with whom there are close business relationships, or who is a sole beneficial owner of a legal entity or in an arrangement set up by the PEP with whom they are associated.
